Annual Forum

The qldwater Annual Forum is our signature event of the year and a great opportunity to connect with our members over three days each September.

The 2024 Annual Forum will take place from 22-23 August at the IPWEA-QNT Event Centre at Eagle Farm, Brisbane. Registrations will open soon.

The Forum will kick off with a couple of site tours on Thursday, 22 August.

Friday, 23 August is strategy day where we gather our brains trust to set the direction for qldwater programs for the year ahead.

The Annual Forum events include technical tours of water and sewerage infrastructure, the Best of the Best Queensland Water Taste Test and Vendor Pitches.

Over the years, forum participants have visited the Tugun Desalination Plant and Merrimac Recycled Water Plant on the Gold Coast, Stradbroke Island Water Treatment Plant, Cedar Grove Environmental Centre in Logan, Commonwealth Games infrastructure, Spring Hill Reservoir, Eagle Farm Pump Station, Luggage Point Innovation Centre, Mount Crosby Water Treatment Plant and more.

The Best of the Best Queensland Water Taste Test is our way of promoting the hard work that goes into the delivery of a food grade product to Queensland communities, 24/7 each day of the year. Attendees sniff, swirl, sip and score water samples from across the State in a blind taste-off event over lunch. Mackay Regional Council have secured their place at the top of the throne for many years with their rainforest source a clear winner in Queensland, Australia and indeed the world! Read more

Another staple of the qldwater Annual Forum is the Vendor Pitch session which aims to raise funds for the Queensland Water Regional Communities Innovations Program (QWRCIP), a charitable venture to help staff from small and remote communities to attend events and spend time with mentors from other larger Queensland utilities. It is administered under the auspices of qldwater with a steering committee made up of members of its Strategic Priorities Group (SPG).

The final day is strategy day. This is not your typical conference - there is no call for papers, the sessions are sourced based on the work of our SPG and the issues that the group has identified as being of strategic importance for our industry. We work hard to develop a program of presentations and panel sessions which engages both our industry and key regulatory agencies to proactively address our challenges.
