Learning from the Agile Experiment: Lessons in Digital Portfolio Management
Agile approaches have changed how organisations plan and deliver digital investment, creating opportunities for earlier learning, closer business involvement and more timely decisions. At the same time, the shortcomings of this methodology have reinforced the importance of clear strategic direction, a coherent roadmap, and effective investment governance.
Drawing on published case studies and research, this session explores the benefits, limitations and practical lessons of applying agile to digital portfolio management. Tailored to Queensland council water professionals, it considers the implications for people and processes, including business ownership, funding, governance and operational capacity.
Participants will gain a practical perspective on combining iterative delivery with the planning and accountability needed to achieve lasting service improvements.
