Storm Events 2013
Date: 29-Jun-2017

In what seems to be becoming all too familiar, a number of councils are in recovery mode after unprecedented storm events in many parts of the State.

qldwater is back online after server interruptions due to power outages.  We are in the office irregularly this week but contactable by mobiles below – while the office itself has not been impacted, the surrounding roads are always prone to local flooding/ tidal surges.  We are not proposing to postpone any planned meetings or the regional mini-conferences scheduled to start in the next couple of weeks at this stage.  Gympie Regional Council has been in contact and is geared up for the conference on 21 February.

A reminder -  we are keen to offer assistance wherever possible in emergencies but are conscious of the importance of existing disaster management processes and keeping to those channels.  We have again had offers from the State and other qldwater members to provide direct support and services in the recovery phase.

LGAQ are coordinating offers of assistance among LG Service Providers through the Disaster Management Alliance (contact dmalliance@lgaq.asn.au<mailto:dmalliance@lgaq.asn.au).  Local Government Infrastructure Services are providing councils with access to direct technical support in regards to recovery of water and waste water assets as well as providing advice regarding the NDRRA processes. For immediate support contact Anthony Coates on 0401 794 794.

Please contact us if you think there is anything at all that we can assist with through contacts in government or the extended qldwater technical network of water and sewerage service providers.

 Please stay safe.
