Industry representatives gathered at Waters Edge Function Centre in Brisbane on Thursday 22 August to celebrate their industry colleagues at the qldwater 2024 Annual Forum Awards Dinner.
The recipient of the qldwater Government Stakeholder Contribution Award was Ted Aldred, Manager Water Supply Regulation – Water Operations and Systems, at the Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water. This award recognises a government representative who has played a pivotal role in advancing the industry through their support, engagement, and forward-thinking initiatives.
Ted is a seasoned professional with a background in environmental and public health protection, particularly in safeguarding drinking water safety. With a strong commitment to protecting the health of communities, especially vulnerable populations, he has led various public health programs and actively mentors young professionals. Currently, Ted oversees projects aimed at auditing and enhancing drinking water treatment infrastructure, demonstrating his leadership in ensuring the highest standards of public health protection.
The qldwater Industry Recognition Award was presented to Steve Martin, Assets and Projects Manager at Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council. This award acknowledges an individual who has made significant contributions to the advancement of the water and sewerage industry in Queensland.
Steve is a highly experienced water industry professional with significant contributions to Queensland’s water sector. He has held key roles at the Townsville Regional Council and Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council, focusing on improving water operations, capacity building, and water quality for Indigenous communities. He demonstrated strong leadership during the Townsville Floods of 2019 and has supported the qldwater Strategic Priorities Group in addressing water supply challenges. Steve is dedicated to improving water management practices and ensuring access to clean water for all communities.
