The Australian Industry Standards (AIS) annual skills survey is now open.
With the double disruptors of COVID-19 and Digital Transformation directly impacting the labour market, workforce planning and the demand for skills, AIS are keen to hear views about the key issues affecting industry.
Your input will assist the development of the 2022 Industry Outlooks and provide critical information to build a whole-of-industry picture and will be used to assist in identifying new or emerging skills needs for the sectors you represent.
The survey should only take 5 - 10 minutes. All answers can be completely anonymous.
Click here to complete the survey.
The survey will remain open until close of business on Monday 31 January 2022.
If you have any questions, please contact us via email enquiries@australianindustrystandards.org.au or call (03) 9604 7200.
We are recruiting for a new skills manager to attempt to replace Carlie Sargent and the duty statement is available here. It is an exciting and challenging role and before we go out to the broader market we thought we would have a go at seeing if there was interest from suitable people in the qldwater network. From our perspective, someone with a HR/ Training/ Workforce Planning background, but water industry experience would be ideal.
We would be open to secondments or other "suck it and see" options if they can be arranged with existing employers.
While we are open to flexible working and really keen to promote regional Queensland, the nature of the gig with our DESBT contract does mean a fair few face to face things happen in Brisbane so in practice someone located in Brisbane or within a reasonable driving distance is most practical.

Registrations are now open for the Skills Forum to be held as a hybrid event on Thursday, 3 March 2022. We have made some changes to the program with the expectation that we will have significantly fewer people attending in person due to the Covid situation.
Graham Fraine, the Director General of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water, has agreed to attend the last session to discuss industry skilling challenges and potential solutions.
The Forum will explore the Lifecycle of a Water Industry Worker, with three half-hour panel sessions exploring possible career paths, from ways to gain interest through pre-vocational opportunities to traineeships, graduate employment and industry co-investment models to entice postgraduate industry research. It also includes a session on a successful transition to retirement model.
The event will also include an “Attraction Hack” for a bit of fun but with a serious intent – to give us useful ideas to build awareness of the great opportunities in our industry. It’s your big chance to get creative and think outside the box.
Whether you are able to attend in person at our office in Eagle Farm or online, we look forward to welcoming you to the Water Skills Partnership signature annual event.
qldwater’s SCADA Micro-Credential is now online and open for enrolments! We received a very positive response to the EOI we sent last year and have set up a number of virtual workshops to commence in February next year. Please see below available dates:
Two Full Days Course Dates:
Four x Half Day Course Dates:
Full details of course dates and timing are on listed on the micro-credential website.
Due to the strong demand for this course and finite funds available as part of the pilot program, we are limiting enrolments to a maximum of four participants per organisation. We are very grateful to DESBT for its support of this pilot to date and for continuing to fund this new micro-credential and also to DRDMW which has provided additional funding to support more enrolments. Workshop enrolments will be accepted on a first come, first served basis, up to four learners per organisation. If additional funding becomes available, we will add more course dates and advise if additional enrolments from each organisation can be accepted. Please email skills@qldwater.com.au if you are keen to add more enrolments and we’ll contact you if that becomes an option.
Enrol now to secure your place!
qldwater is happy to announce that our remaining events for 2022 are now live and sponsorship opportunities for our events are now available.
We will make a call on the availability of virtual attendance options as the COVID situation evolves – at present we will be doing all we can to focus on getting people the opportunity to network face to face.
