A new fact sheet is available on the Queensland Health website 'Returning to a disaster-affected house or building' (see http://www.health.qld.gov.au/disaster/. This document contains advice as to how people can safely restore their domestic water supply if inundated by floods. This advice has been prepared on the following assumptions:
- that the flood didn't cause any physical damage to the plumbing,
- that positive pressure was maintained throughout the system during the event, and
- that the quality of the water supplied to the scheme was not compromised during the flood.
The 'Harden Up' website has some resources available on preparing for floods. See http://hardenup.org/prepare-yourself/practical-preparation-advice/your-family/prepare-for-floods.aspx.
